Top Nolan's started off as a grocery shop and a pub. People came in to do their shopping and have a drink while the wife got her order made up. Most people who came into town then only shopped once a week. It was common to see pony or ass and cart outside Top Nolan's. Sometimes the pony would be across the road in the forge getting shod.

When Peter Gibbons took over the pub completely changed. The people who liked an Irish atmosphere and Irish music went there in their droves. It became very hard to get in the doors on a weekend as it was packed and all the best Irish music lovers went there. People have visited Tops from all corners of the world because they had heard of it in their own country. Whenever any group or committee need help Top's is always one of the first places they go to for help and they are not turned away empty handed.

Like most pub's in Kildare town it is a very enjoyable experience to go there for a good night out
